Teaching is face to face offering a mixture of tutor lectures, whole group discussions, experiential learning and practical application of skills and theory to case study sessions.
The main learning comes from the intensive in-house tutor facilitated case management sessions and follow up analysis. This will include full days of group training supervision concluding in a case review submission.
Throughout, you will receive individual feedback, unique to you and your personal process.
Links to self and application of self to theory and practice will underpin every lesson.
All work is internally assessed throughout the training via ongoing observations and evaluation by the core tutor, based on your contributions to group activities and submission of a portfolio containing:
- 1 Case Study
(Arising from in house case management sessions)
-1 Self Reflective Assignment
(Who Am I in a Couple?)
- 1 Group Research Assignment
(Theoretical Evaluation)
- Reflective Learning Reviews
(Weekly submissions)
Samples of work will also be assessed by an External Verifier as well as internal moderator. This is to maintain integrity and ensure quality standards.
There is no requirement for a specific placement with Couples as practical experience and skills will be gained through the structured in-house experiential sessions which will form the basis of the formally assessed case study. Ongoing clinical work with individual clients will be required in order to carry out critical evaluation of Couples & Relationship work. Even if you choose not to work with couples, this training will enhance your professional practice and enable you to work more effectively with individual clients on their relationship difficulties. It also provides you with 90 hours of CPD for the year, a recognised Level 5 qualification and a specialised skill in this area.
